Oh, pues despues de unos meses en los que no hacia practicamente frio en Londres, hoy hemos tenido una nevada que lo ha dejado todo muy bonito, aunque durante poco tiempo.

Desde hace un tiempo vengo usando y escuchando last.fm. Empecé con un plugin para amarok para audioscrobbler, que te permitía enviar las canciones que estabas escuchando y te generaba estadísticas sobre la música que escuchabas. Después, creo, last.fm compró adioscrobbler para tener lo que tenemos hoy en día.
Pero ¿qué es last.fm? Bueno, resumiendolo es como una red social orientada a música dónde puedes escuchar la música que más te guste y las de tus contactos/amigos. Dispone de un reproductor de mp3 que está disponible para Windows, Mac y Linux y que funciona decentemente bien. Con él puedes escuchar música en base a búsquedas por artistas o por tags como electronica, techno, etc.
La música que escuchas la puedes marcar como favorita o de manera que no te la vuelva a reproducir, si alguna no te gusta. Asi mismo, también puedes etiquetar la música, de manera que se va generando una base de datos con distintas etiquetas.
El propio sistema te puede recomendar música partiendo de la música que escuchas, o incluso reproducirte la música de tus amigos o las que has marcados como favoritas. Algunas de estas opciones sólo están disponibles para suscriptores. Merece la pena echarle un vistazo a last.fm.
Yo, me he suscrito durante 6 meses más que nada porque me parece que esta gente se lo está currando y tienen una web bastante impresionante. 6 meses por 9 libras esterlinas. Creo que es barato para las posibilidades que me ofrece: Escuchar el tipo de música que quiera en cualquier momento.
Ah, y además esta gente están en Londres!

No puedo más que recomendar la lectura de “The Red Queen, Sex and Evolution of Human Nature“, por Matt Ridley, donde capítulo a capítulo se da un repaso a todos los mecanismos que la evolución ha puesto en juego en esta carrera armamentística que es la vida.
